Yet Another Instance of Liberal Media.....

from Greg Sargent

"Media Outlets That Went Nuts Over O'Hanlon Ignoring Cordesman's Pessimism About Iraq"

Here is a list of the big news orgs and network shows -- compiled from here, here, and here -- that lavished coverage on Michael O'Hanlon and Kenneth Pollack over their now-infamous Op-ed saying that we just might win the war in Iraq:

As noted here yesterday, national security analyst Anthony Cordesman went to Iraq with O'Hanlon and Pollack, and reached a strikingly different conclusion. The Center for Strategic and International Studies, where Cordesman works, just told me that they sent out a release about this yesterday morning."

And yet the Bush Admin can only manage to get abour 26% of the people to believe this garbage......USA! USA! USA!

This will go down as the most insidious political ploy ever devised. Rove tricked his opponents into believing this was for fighting terrorism. We will find out after the Bush Admin leaves office that they were wiretapping and spying on the Democrats. Ever wonder how Rove seems to be able to out maneuver the Dems so easily and frequently?

Prescott Bush Planned to Overthrow Roosevelt?

"The coup was aimed at toppling President Franklin D Roosevelt with the help of half-a-million war veterans. The plotters, who were alleged to involve some of the most famous families in America, (owners of Heinz, Birds Eye, Goodtea, Maxwell Hse & George Bush’s Grandfather, Prescott) believed that their country should adopt the policies of Hitler and Mussolini to beat the great depression."--The Whitehouse Coup via BBC Radio

Are you suprised that a bunch of right wingers would think Hitler had the best economic model for getting out of the depression? They also forget that the depression was caused by Republican malfeasance to begin with.

"Hoover and the Republicans saw aid to corporations as being different. Whereas they believed that helping the individual citizen weather the Depression would corrupt him or her, aiding corporations and other business was different. To many, it appeared that the Republicans were only interested in the rich. The newly-created Reconstruction Finance Corporation aided only the large corporations.."

Lets not forget who Prescott Bush was....

Why Do Right-Wingers Hate Kos?

Courtesy of Think Progress:

"Every Democratic presidential nominee is going to the DailyKos convention," said Kristol. "That’s the left-wing blogger who was not respectable three or four years ago. The Howard Dean kind of sponsor. Now the whole party is going to pay court to him and to left wing blogs."--Bill Kristol July 22, 2007

From Bill O:

"O’Reilly went on to compare the YearlyKos blogger convention to "a David Duke convention" while calling DailyKos "hatemongerers" like "the Ku Klux Klan" and "the Nazi Party."--Bill O'Reilly July 17, 2007

Here is why Cons hate Kos:

"After high school, Moulitsas served in the U.S. Army (1989-92) as a 13P -- Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) Fire Direction Specialist. He trained at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and served the remainder of his three-year enlistment in Bamberg, Germany. While he entered the Army as a Republican, he abandoned the GOP soon after his enlistment."

David Brooks.....aka The Shill Who Luvs GWB

Via Think Progress

David Brooks is confused about Iraq?

"Let me say, I’m more uncertain about what to do than I’ve ever been in this war," he said. "I really have no clue. So I almost have no judgment on what we should do, stay or go. I really am so confused."--NewsHour with Jim Lehrer-July 20, 2007

Remember when David "the shill" Brooks thought he know WTF he was talking about when it came to Iraq?

"The country wants to get out of Iraq, but they don’t want to get out precipitously. They want a managed withdrawal. The majority just isn’t there. So the majority in the Congress had to accede to those two realities."NewsHour with Jim Lehrer-May 25, 2007

Ohhhh but wait...there's more....he even goes as far to help the Bush Administration out with "connecting the dots" on Iraq and 9/11 back in 2003.

"You're in a context, post-September 11 where everybody is blaming you for not bring all the information together, to think about a theory of how the World Trade Centers got blown up. So you want to be aggressive in connecting the dots. They were aggressive and they did take this Niger thing seriously. But to me, that's what I want my president to be doing in those circumstances because nuclear bombs could be months away in Iraq." NewsHour with Jim Lehrer-July 18, 2003

Mushroom clouds anyone?

Republican Obstructionism or Treachery?

Republican's say one thing and do another.....typical in the land of self-loathing hypocrisy. Lets look at this little tidbit of how the Republican mantra of "Party Before Country" has wreaked havoc on the country.

"WASHINGTON — This year Senate Republicans are threatening filibusters to block more legislation than ever before, a pattern that's rooted in — and could increase — the pettiness and dysfunction in Congress.

The trend has been evolving for 30 years. The reasons behind it are too complex to pin on one party. But it has been especially pronounced since the Democrats' razor-thin win in last year's election, giving them effectively a 51-49 Senate majority, and the Republicans' exile to the minority."--Senate tied in knots by filibusters

Republicans, what are they good for? Not you or me....

Over 1000 Subpoena's Issued to Investigate President Clinton

from Rep Brad Miller

"In other words, they think we’ll act like Republicans. After Republicans took control of Congress in 1994, the House Government Reform Committee issued more than 1000 subpoenas to investigate alleged misconduct by the Clinton Administration and the Democratic Party, or two for every day Congress was in session.

Are Republicans worried that congressional investigations will be burdensome? The Clinton Administration produced two million pages of documents, an average of 4,000 pages of documents for every day Congress was in session."

.....you heard right...Republican's issued TWO SUBPOENA'S for every day they were in session and Clinton produced 4,000 pages of documents for the same. What did all this "Matlocking" uncover? Hmm...Clinton cheated on his wife (see Newt Gingrich) and found that Clinton had done nothing illegal in the Whitewater Investigation. By the way....Republican's wasted $50 million.

But Clinton Did It........

Tony Snow Thinks Executive Privilege Pertains to Republican's Only...

"What kinds of conversations does executive privilege protect?…What are the limits on privilege?'' a newspaper columnist wrote in the spring of 1998 on a subject strangely familiar today."

"Evidently, Mr. Clinton wants to shield virtually any communications that take place within the White House compound on the theory that all such talk contributes in some way, shape or form to the continuing success and harmony of an administration,'' the columnist wrote. "Taken to its logical extreme, that position would make it impossible for citizens to hold a chief executive accountable for anything.''

More from the Chicago Tribune:Snow swallows own old words

By the way, Clinton did let his aides testify UNDER OATHE.

Guerilla News Latest......Please Watch.

"Directed by GNN’s Ian Inaba, American Blackout chronicles the recurring patterns of voter disenfranchisement witnessed from 2000 to 2004. Told through the life of Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney who took an active role investigating the scrubbing of the Florida voter roles and then found herself in her own election debacle after publicly questioning the Bush Administration about the terrorist attacks of 9-11. American Blackout travels from Florida to Georgia to Ohio examining the contemporary tactics used to control our democratic process and silence political dissent.

"When the president does it, that means that it is not illegal."--Richard Nixon (during Watergate investigation)

"In DOJ documents that were publicly posted by the House Judiciary Committee, there is a gap from mid-November to early December in e-mails and other memos, which was a critical period as the White House and Justice Department reviewed, then approved, which U.S. attorneys would be fired while also developing a political and communications strategy for countering any fallout from the firings."

    BOYCOTT YAHOO!!!!

    'Yahoo Betrayed My Husband'
"FAIRFAX, Virginia -- Early one Sunday morning in 2002, a phone rings in Yu Ling's Beijing duplex. She's cleaning upstairs; her son is asleep, while downstairs, her husband, Wang Xiaoning, is on the computer. Wang writes about politics, anonymously e-mailing his online e-journals to a group of Yahoo users. He's been having problems with his Yahoo service recently. He thinks it's a technical issue. This is the day he learns he's wrong."

    Continued:

"Moments later, government agents swarm through the front door -- 10 of them, some in uniform, some not. They take Wang away. They take his computers and disks. They shove an official notice into Yu's hands, tell her to keep quiet, and leave. This is how it's done in China. This is how the internet police grab you."

I encourage all Americans to boycott Yahoo. Kill your IM accounts and refuse to use their search engines and news services.

    The Oscars...groupthink at its best.

A film that receives an Oscar is by no means a guarantee to potential viewers that its a great film. When my fellow Americans start electing intelligent leadership then I will listen to their opinions on their entertainment selections.

    group·think-noun:
      1. The practice of approaching problems or issues as matters that are best dealt with by consensus of a group rather than by individuals acting independently; conformity
    .
      2. the lack of individual creativity, or of a sense of personal responsibility, that is sometimes characteristic of group intereaction

Americans Support Killing Civilians? A New Low For America

A new poll reported in CS Monitor:

The myth of Muslim support for terror

WASHINGTON - Those who think that Muslim countries and pro-terrorist attitudes go hand-in-hand might be shocked by new polling research: Americans are more approving of terrorist attacks against civilians than any major Muslim country except for Nigeria.

The survey, conducted in December 2006 by the University of Maryland's prestigious Program on International Public Attitudes, shows that only 46 percent of Americans think that "bombing and other attacks intentionally aimed at civilians" are "never justified," while 24 percent believe these attacks are "often or sometimes justified."

Contrast those numbers with 2006 polling results from the world's most-populous Muslim countries – Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nigeria. Terror Free Tomorrow, the organization I lead, found that 74 percent of respondents in Indonesia agreed that terrorist attacks are "never justified"; in Pakistan, that figure was 86 percent; in Bangladesh, 81 percent.

Do these findings mean that Americans are closet terrorist sympathizers?

US Intelligence on Iranian Nukes Completely False

    From Sunday's L.A. Times

VIENNA — Although international concern is growing about Iran's nuclear program and its regional ambitions, diplomats here say most U.S. intelligence shared with the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency has proved inaccurate and none has led to significant discoveries inside Iran.

The officials said the CIA and other Western spy services had provided sensitive information to the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency at least since 2002, when Iran's long-secret nuclear program was exposed. But none of the tips about supposed secret weapons sites provided clear evidence that the Islamic Republic was developing illicit weapons.

Interesting...considering the U.N. was correct on Iraq's WMDs (or lack thereof) it's hard to grasp why the Bush Admin thinks they can polish a turd and call it jewelry. This is the same Bush Administration that outed CIA operatives working on Iranian Nuclear Proliferation.....

Rove Tells America How Republicans Really Feel...

    about immigrants.....

"According to a congressman's wife who attended a Republican women's luncheon yesterday, Karl Rove explained the rationale behind the president's amnesty/open-borders proposal this way: "I don't want my 17-year-old son to have to pick tomatoes or make beds in Las Vegas."

There should be no need to explain why this is an obscene statement coming from a leader in the party that promotes the virtues of hard work, thrift, and sobriety, a party whose demi-god actually split fence rails as a young man, a party where "respectable Republican cloth coat" once actually meant something. But it does seem to be necessary to explain."

    Flying Across Country?

With all this time in the media being spent on Speaker Pelosi's taxpayer funded plane, shouldnt we take a look at Congressman Hunter's transport and see if he, like Pelosi, takes non-stop flights from the 52nd to DC? It appears that most California reps do indeed fly non-stop...contacting Congressman Hunter's office.

Bush Admin Push Iran/Iraq Weapons Deal?

Could it be possible that the Bush Admin either thru sheer incompetence or skilled planning allowed the Iraq/Iran weapons deal in order to make a statement such as this?

"If Iran escalates its military action in Iraq to the detriment of our troops and/or innocent Iraqi people, we will respond firmly," said the President, who also remarked, "I take the Iranian nuclear threat very seriously, even though the intel on Iraq was not what it was thought to be." Not All Facism Looks Like Adolf Hitler (You Tube)

Jan 24th...."Most Depressing Day of the Year"

LONDON - Is the midwinter weather wearing you down? Are you sinking in debt after the holidays? Angry with yourself for already breaking your New Year's resolutions? Wish you could crawl back under the covers and not have to face another day of rain, sleet, snow and paperwork? Probably. After all, it's Jan. 24, the “most depressing day of the year,” according to a U.K. psychologist.

Dr. Cliff Arnall's calculations show that misery peaks Monday.

Arnall, who specializes in seasonal disorders at the University of Cardiff, Wales, created a formula that takes into account numerous feelings to devise peoples' lowest point.

The equation is broken down into seven variables: (W) weather, (D) debt, (d) monthly salary, (T) time since Christmas, (Q) time since failed quit attempt, (M) low motivational levels and (NA) the need to take action.
